The toll that we will be covering today will be the functional skills diagnostic tests for maths and English. This excellent little test is the best way to begin your preparation for your Functional Skills exam. In essence, it is a short test that is designed to test your knowledge, measuring accurately what level you are at for the subject. From there, you will have the opportunity to decide what level fo exam will be best for you.
These level are:
- Level 1 (worth a SATS qualification)
- Level 2 (worth a GCSE qualification)
However, if the functional skills diagnostic assessment does recommend that you take Level 1 over Level 2, then we would still recommend considering Level 2. Especially if you have a good amount of revision time ahead where you can improve your level of knowledge. This is because Level 2 is worth a GCSE, and Level 1 is worth only a SATS level qualification. Thus, it may not be as useful to you as a Level 2.
If you are still unsure if you should choose Level 2 over Level 1, or are not confident in your knowledge level. The diagnostic test allows for it to be retaken numerous times. Allowing you to keep track of your progress throughout revision. Giving you an accurate representation of exactly where you are. As well as showing how much you have improved during this time.
All of this and more make the functional skills diagnostic tests for maths and English an essential tool for anyone looking to take a Functional Skills exam. If you are still unsure or want to know more. Then the Newcastle Tutor Company is here to help.
