GCSE Maths Equivalency Exams could be the answer to your problems, if you require entry to higher education courses that accept GCSE Equivalents rather than the actual GCSE if you have been out of education for a while. These are mainly aimed at those who are prospective teachers/midwives and nurses who need to gain access onto their initial training courses.
Here at the Newcastle Tutor Company, we would like to offer you the option to take these GCSE Maths Equivalency Exams through us.
We understand that choosing a provider can be overwhelming as there are so many. So, we would like to let you know that we have been working closely alongside A Star Equivalency testing. A Star is an extremely reputable company and have been a leading GCSE Maths Equivalency exam provider since 2002. When visiting their website, you will receive the offer to either only sit your exam with them or to study the whole course and then sit the exam in one package. Also, unlike other providers who have a set cost; A Star offers you the opportunity to sit your exam for a cheaper price, the further in advance that you book your exam.
GCSE Maths Equivalency Exams are available in both higher and foundation tier. It is important to consider as the foundation tier has a higher pass rate and also less course content (but is capped at Level 5). Whereas, the higher tier GCSE Maths Equivalency exam grades range from Level 3 to 9 with the more confident students able to test their abilities with questions aimed at level 7,8,9.
The GCSE Maths Equivalency Exams all follow the Edexcel GCSE Maths Specification, however there are a few slight modifications in order to make success of the exam more accessible to those who have had a long period of time without studying or being in full time education.
The grade boundaries for the Foundation and Higher level exams are as follows:
Foundation Tier Maths Equivalency Exam Grade Boundaries
- Grade 4 (low C) (55% to 74%) Grade 5 (75% to 100%)
Higher Tier Maths Equivalency Grade Boundaries are as follows:
