Here at Newcastle Tutor Company, we help our learners develop their maths skills and help them prepare for their functional skills maths exam. This article has been created to help you access the level 2 past paper and show you how to use them effectively as part of your revision plan.
The functional skills maths level 2 past papers can be accessed on a number of different websites. It is important that when accessing the papers that you only use the exams from 2019 onward as this was the time when the new specifications came into effect. Therefore any exam papers pre 2019 are much less relevant and may contain questions that are no longer in the exam. The different exam boards all offer their own past papers but as they all use the same government curriculum, there is little to no difference between them. The only real difference is the exam structure, they may have a different number of sections for the calculator and non-calculator sections for instance and slightly different timings. However, they are all still useful to use for revision materials.
Students should only go onto past paper practice once they feel confident with the subject matter otherwise it can negatively impact confidence. Once you have covered each topic area of the exam then it is time to do your first functional skills maths level 2 past paper. We advise you to complete these past papers in exam conditions so you get an insight into what the exam will be like when you sit it. It will also show you what you need to work on when you use the mark scheme to help you mark it. Once you have completed a number of mocks you will see an improvement in your results.
